Solidcore S3 Embedded
Technology to Provide Enhanced Security
for Tacit Networks' Branch Office IT Appliances
OEM relationship combines
enhanced control, compliance, and security
software with industry-leading Windows-based
WAFS appliances
ORLANDO,
Florida — October 24, 2005 —Solidcore
Systems, Inc., the leading provider of IT
control solutions, has announced an OEM
agreement at Storage Networking World with
Tacit Networks. The deal enables Tacit Networks
to leverage Solidcore’s S3 Embedded
technology on its Windows-based wide area
file services (WAFS) software and appliances,
thereby ensuring enhanced security , compliance,
and control for its distributed networking
customers.
"Solidcore’s
S3 Embedded software gives companies the
ability to achieve unprecedented security
and control of products after they are deployed,"
said Robert Sandie, EVP of Worldwide Operations
at Solidcore. "Tacit Networks pioneered
the use of distributed networking technology,
and it is very exciting to partner with
them to provide innovative solutions for
their customers. This agreement is another
milestone in our continuing success providing
embedded security for the storage marketing."
Tacit Networks will use
Solidcore’s S3 Embedded technology,
to protect appliances from security threats,
including viruses, worms, Trojans, buffer
overflows, zero-day attacks, and all other
types of unauthorized code execution. Solidcore’s
patented technology will provide kernel-level
protection for Tacit Networks products,
ensuring they are protected from unauthorized
tampering, modification and change. Perhaps
most importantly, this high degree of security
is achieved without impacting standard maintenance
and operations.
"Tacit Networks’
branch office IT solutions allow enterprise
customers to reduce the server and storage
sprawl that has arisen in today’s
branch office by extending datacenter resources
out to the branch," said Chuck Foley,
President at Tacit Networks. "Key to
our strategy has been the ability to combine
performance, data integrity, and security
into a single appliance footprint which
slashes cost and complexity. By providing
locked-down appliances using Solidcore's
technology, we are taking secure appliance
deployment to the next level. Combined with
a substantial improvement in ease of maintenance,
this is very positive for our customers."
Solidcore provides complete
protection from all known and unknown risks
and internal and external threats that result
from developing and deploying embedded systems
on open, industry-standard computing platforms
such as Windows, Linux, and Java. Embedding
Solidification technology into open-standards-based
applications and devices allows manufacturers
to realize cost efficiencies in development
and allows customers to benefit from total
control, compliance, and security in deployment.
Solidcore protects and
secures devices of all types — ATMs,
cell phones, medical instruments, PDAs,
point-of-sale terminals, and storage servers,
among many others — throughout the
network. Once deployed, the software requires
no configuration or maintenance. It introduces
very little system overhead and has an insignificant
footprint in deployment.
