Solidcore Launches S3 Control for the Embedded Windows and Linux Market
S3 Control enables device security, field support, channel customization, and compliance with real-time performance
GARTNER SYMPOSIUM/ITxpo, San Francisco, CA — May 15, 2006 — Solidcore Systems, Inc., the leading provider of real-time change control solutions, today announced that it has launched S3 Control, the first and only software product to deliver control for devices running Windows or Linux. These devices face unique challenges in terms of providing security in an environment with intermittent or no connectivity, enabling customization by the channel and end-customers without increasing support costs, and meeting end-customers’ security policy and compliance requirements. In addition, most of these devices such as ultrasound machines, ATMs, etc. perform some real-time function and require a small-footprint, high-performance solution. Solidcore S3 Control is the market’s first solution to address all of these problems holistically. It allows device manufacturers to use the power of Windows and Linux while meeting their business model requirements.
S3 Control supports a wide range of devices today, including ultrasound imaging, MRI systems, automotive controls, ATMs, and storage devices, among others. NCR Corporation, a leading global technology company, is using S3 Control for software change control and fraud protection as part of its Intelligent Fraud Detection, a security component of NCR's APTRA™ self-service software.
Sean McCarthy, director of product management for security solutions with NCR’s Financial Solutions Division, said, “Solidcore S3 Control gives us the change control capabilities we need to deploy highly secure ATMs. We will continue to work with Solidcore to provide the most advanced security and compliance for our ATM customers. Having precise control capabilities is critically important.”
“S3 Control provides a unique opportunity for the OEM market,” said Rosen Sharma, president and CEO of Solidcore. “As more and more equipment manufacturers move to a mainstream Windows-based software platform, problems related to unauthorized change, security, and support costs are on the rise. Solidcore’s S3 Control provides the means to gain the development and interoperability benefits from developing on Windows and Linux, while deploying in a controlled state that solves these problems. Our industry-leading OEM customers such as NCR realize that change control forms the foundation of their efforts to deliver the highest quality products and IT services.”
