Solidcore Releases First Change Enforcement Module for BMC Remedy Change Management
Automatically Prevents or Allows Infrastructure Changes Based on Remedy Change Management Processes
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, Nov. 27, 2006 — At the Gartner 25th Annual Data Center Conference, Solidcore Systems, Inc., a leading provider of change control solutions, today released the industry’s first Change Enforcement Module for the BMC Remedy Change Management solution. The Change Enforcement Module, part of Solidcore’s S3 Control software, seamlessly integrates with the BMC Remedy Change Management solution to automatically prevent or allow changes to the infrastructure based on current BMC Remedy Change Management processes. The automated capability benefits information technology (IT) organizations with improved service availability and lower total IT operational costs.
Current change management processes are designed to maintain service availability by relying on people manually following policy. IT service availability and operational efficiency can be increased by automating the enforcement of change policies and the collection of change data across the infrastructure. With Solidcore’s automated Change Enforcement Module, IT organizations using BMC Remedy Change Management can selectively enforce change policy based on approved BMC Remedy change tickets, approved change time-windows and programs authorized to make changes. The software also automates the process of ensuring all changes have been tested and have passed through the appropriate approval process within the BMC Remedy solution prior to deployment.
"Relying on static change control solutions that require human intervention and periodically polling of system configurations can delay the problem-resolution lifecycle and add to operational costs," said Andi Mann, senior analyst for Enterprise Management Associates (EMA). "Enterprise IT organizations must trust automating the prevention of unauthorized changes and enforcement of change policies to more quickly realize improved customer service and lower IT operational costs."
According to recent research from EMA, more than 60% of all downtime is the result of faulty configuration changes. Further research has shown that the average IT problem lifecycle is between one and four hours, in large part because of significantly manual diagnostic and remediation processes.
Solidcore S3 Control with the Change Enforcement Module is easily configurable for BMC Remedy Change Management customers to increase the availability of IT services, enable the successful implementation of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) projects and reduce the cost of compliance initiatives such as Sarbanes-Oxley. In addition to providing automated change policy enforcement for BMC Remedy Change Management users, Solidcore’s S3 Control software provides real-time visibility into what changes are being made and reconciles actual changes with existing BMC Remedy change-ticketing systems. Solidcore helps confirm that approved changes have been deployed and identifies unticketed changes (e.g. emergency changes) with very high accuracy.
"Enterprises face increased support costs, network downtime and service failures by trying to manually track and enforce changes on the infrastructure," said Bob Vieraitis, vice president of marketing for Solidcore. "Solidcore has made it easier than ever to get increased control of the change management process by delivering the first automated Change Enforcement Module for Remedy. Customers will now benefit from improved service availability and uptime by automatically preventing out-of-policy changes to the infrastructure."
