Solidcore Integrates Real-Time Change Control with Opsware System 7

Combined Solution Helps Sustain PCI and Regulatory Compliance by Preventing Unauthorized Change to Applications and the Infrastructure

CARLSBAD, Calif., Sep. 18, 2007 - At the OPSWorld 2007 conference, SolidcoreŽ Systems Inc., a leading provider of change control software, today announced integration of its S3 ControlT product with the new Opsware System 7 suite of Datacenter Automation software. The combined solution enables customers to enforce Opsware as an authorized change agent across applications and the infrastructure, where only changes from Opsware are allowed, locking down select applications and files that require extreme change control policies. Solidcore's existing sales and marketing partnership with Opsware gives Opsware the option to resell the Solidcore S3 Control software with the Opsware System 7 solutions suite based on select customer needs.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) mandates that companies must ensure critical transaction information, credit card data and customer information is safe from malicious system intrusions or changes. Additionally, the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act requires corporations to certify the adequacy and effectiveness of its internal controls, and to disclose any material weaknesses found. Using the combined Opsware and Solidcore solution can help verify and sustain compliance with these and other regulatory standards by detecting and documenting changes to IT infrastructure in real-time. The combined solution prevents unauthorized modification to critical infrastructure such as log files, security configurations and audit trails - alerting administrators of attempted unauthorized changes. Only changes authorized through the Opsware suite can be allowed, thereby ensuring that all changes are policy compliant.

"Assuring compliance with the PCI DSS standard, SOX and other regulatory compliance initiatives requires comprehensive visibility and control of change across applications and the infrastructure," said Sharmila Shahani, EVP of marketing at Opsware Inc. "With Opsware and Solidcore, customers have a centralized means to ensure only appropriate, approved changes are implemented to applications and the infrastructure as expected."

Opsware and Solidcore provide a comprehensive control solution that greatly reduces the cost and effort required to verify and sustain compliance with the PCI, SOX and other regulatory standards. The combined Opsware and Solidcore solution captures critical change detail in real-time including "who" is making changes, "what" is actually being changed, "when" change is occurring, and "how" the change was made. This enables organizations to ensure deployed systems are always in a known and verified state. With Solidcore's technology-based change policy enforcement, unauthorized changes can also be automatically blocked to sustain compliance and improve service availability. All change events can be summarized in reports to demonstrate compliance to auditors with minimal effort, thus reducing the cost of PCI or SOX compliance verification.

"Organizations that need to sustain PCI and SOX compliance must look beyond legacy audit tools and employ an automated control solution that can track infrastructure change in real-time and proactively prevent unauthorized application and system changes," said Bob Vieraitis, vice president of marketing for Solidcore. "The combined Opsware and Solidcore solution captures all change data across applications and the infrastructure, documents 'who' made a particular change, and helps ensure only authorized changes are executed on the infrastructure - resulting in sustainable compliance and improved overall IT efficiency."
