Solidcore Expands Change Control Distribution in Japan with Ryoyo Electro and Unidux Partnerships

Companies Distribute Change Control to Device Manufacturers for Increased Device Availability, Security and Reduced Support Costs

CUPERTINO, Calif., Feb. 5, 2008 -- Solidcore® Systems, Inc., a leading provider of real-time change control software, today announced strategic distribution agreements with Ryoyo Electro and Unidux, further expanding the delivery of Solidcore's embedded change control software in Japan.  Ryoyo Electro and Unidux, two leading technology and Windows platform distributors in Japan, will deliver Solidcore's S3 Control Embedded™ software to device manufacturers to help increase the availability and security of devices, while also reducing device support costs.

Solidcore's S3 Control Embedded software is a small footprint, low-overhead change control solution that enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to secure and control their embedded devices, including those running the Windows operating systems.  The software installs quickly and easily on devices such as ATMs, point-of-sale systems, thin client computers, and medical devices to enforce the device manufacturer's software change policy.  The software provides proactive protection against unauthorized changes and helps minimize the ongoing maintenance of devices in the field, thus reducing OEM support costs.  Solidcore S3 Control Embedded also provides zero-day security protection by ensuring only authorized software can run on an embedded device – eliminating the need to run "performance-draining" anti-virus software applications.

"Solidcore takes the complexity out of securing and managing embedded devices that are shipped through a dealer network and delivered to disparate locations around the world," said Ken Ogawa, executive vice president for Ryoyo Electro.  "S3 Control Embedded prevents unauthorized changes and code from being carried out on the embedded device.  This helps OEMs lower their development and support costs while also providing a higher-performing and more secure device for customers."

"Change control is becoming a new requirement for building and maintaining embedded devices," said Hiroyuki Nakao, president and COO of Unidux.  "Distributing Solidcore with Windows platforms gives device manufacturers a new advantage by ensuring their gold device image only changes when they want it to.  Solidcore eliminates the risks associated with building and shipping these interactive, networked systems to branch and retail locations."

Solidcore's S3 Control Embedded software provides benefits to both device OEMs and their customers.  Device OEMs benefit by offering a more unique, out-of-the-box computing solution with enhanced software control, security and compliance.  The manufacturer also benefits from a reduction in support costs as unauthorized changes to the operating system and applications are prevented.   The end-user or retail customer benefits from higher security and availability of the device when in-use at the customer's location.

"Solidcore is demonstrating exceptional growth and promise in Japan by helping the world's largest device manufacturers secure and control their critical systems," said Tsunesaburo "Sunny" Sugaya, general partner and head of business development for JAFCO Ventures, a leading venture capital firm in Japan.  "With these new partnerships, Solidcore is proving itself as the market leader in change control software, and is setting a new standard for building and distributing an embedded device."

"Having Ryoyo Electro and Unidux standardize on delivering Solidcore represents a milestone for Solidcore in Japan, and signals a paradigm shift in the embedded device market," said Jim Sarale, vice president of embedded solutions for Solidcore.  "Whether you build ATMs, point-of-sale systems or medical devices, Solidcore's S3 Control Embedded software is the key to ensuring those devices remain secure and operate in the field as expected."
