Kiosk and ATM Security and Control
Today’s banking depends on automated teller machines (ATMs) to provide reliable and secure services to their customers. This is also true of kiosks in the retail and healthcare markets, where the device must be available 24x7 and remain compliant with industry standards. As the adoption and use of kiosks and ATMs are taken for granted and institutions are increasing the services being delivered through these devices, Solidcore provides the additional assurance that they remain available, secure and in compliance with the corporate standards of the bank.
As kiosks and ATMs become more specialized in their delivery of services, manufacturers are also delivering devices that are incorporated into the enterprise. The problem that often arises is that the device manufacturer is not able to deliver the necessary operational controls that meet the enterprise expectations. Many kiosks and ATMs also utilize a Windows operating system, and may provide payment or transactional services. Solidcore S3 Control provides the ability to ‘lock-down’ these devices to mitigate the risk of patching, malware, zero-day vulnerabilities, and other unauthorized changes. Solidcore provides controls that allow kiosk and ATM manufacturers to provide “PCI-ready” or “HIPPA-ready” devices to the enterprise.
Solidcore S3 Control protects kiosks and ATMs from unauthorized changes, and allows manufacturers and the enterprise to enforce established software change policies. Solidcore S3 Control provides the flexibility to allow multi-party authorized updaters and keeps a detailed log of all changed items. For security reasons, ATMs are hard to access through a centralized network and many need on-site support. Solidcore allows for certified and authorized updates to be easily created and distributed to personnel servicing these devices and limiting scope to only the changes authorized within the update. Even if the technician has “Admin” login privileges, no additional alterations will be accepted, keeping the integrity of the system.
